Instant communication in various language versions and across different time zones

i. Description
The Human Resources department of a multinational food and drink corporation needs to send regular messages to its retailers around the world.


ii. Challenges
1. To communicate with as many employees as possible without the HR director having to invest more time than necessary.

2. Communicate simultaneously in a large number of languages.

3. Ensure that the retailers understand the message in the variant they use of their own language*.

iii. Solution
1. The recipients were divided into geographical areas to define who could receive the message at the same time.

2. Three quarterly videoconferences are organized in accordance with the time zones of the target audience, locate in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

3. Remote simultaneous interpreting of the message into all the languages and variants required is provided for each session (for example, one focused on the Americas provides interpreting into Canadian French, Brazilian Portuguese, Caribbean English and different variants of Spanish)


* There are often significant dialectal differences in food and beverage terminology, and these differences tend to be more pronounced in rural areas and among those with lower levels of education.
